Q. What is this “Hedaya Project”?

A. The Hedaya Project, or officially known as Hedaya School & Islamic Center, is a new initiative aimed at providing educational, religious, and community services under one roof (Hedaya Campus). It will feature a Masjid, School, Gym, Community Center, and other educational facilities.

Q. How big is Hedaya land?

A. 17 acres.

Q. Is Hedaya property private?

A. No, Hedaya is a community WAQF registered with NAIT (North American Islamic Trust).

Q. Who leads the Hedaya Project?

A. Hedaya is a community project spearheaded in collaboration between Islamic Center of Kansas (ICK) and Muslim American Society – Kansas City (MASKC).

Q. Are any Hedaya team members being paid working on this project?

A. No, from the start, all members who’ve spent thousands of hours on this project are doing this 100% free for the sake of Allah.

Many of those members contribute financially as well to this great project seeking only to better serve this community and asking Allah’s reward. (Insha’Allah “Sadaqa Jariya – Continuous Charity)

Q. Do we have a city permit to do this construction?

A. Absolutely! The project has passed all building requirements and the city of Overland Park granted a full construction permit.

Q. Who funds this project?

A. Our Community! The generosity of our community is the backbone of funding this project. We are also working with several organizations and Masjids nationally to raise funds InshaAllah

Donating to Hedaya is Zakah eligible donation. (Insha’Allah Sadaqa Jariya – Continuous Charity)

Q. Is this campus built in phases?

A. Yes, however the first phase is a full-fledged facility that will have all the immediate community-needed services.

Q. What is in this phase?

A. Masjid, School, Shelter, Gym, and Youth Center (Addressing all community needs)

Q. What part of the building is completed?

A. The bulk of the School Shelter & Gym building shell (exterior walls) is completed.

Q. I heard this is a wedding hall, is that true

A. No it is not true, there are plans to have a Banquet Hall in the future, but not at this time.

Q. How long will it take to finish this part so we can use it?

A. If we secure full funding, the entire Hedaya School & Islamic Center can be built together, with construction expected to take about 3-4 years to complete.(Contingent on funds availability)

Q. Why are we starting with the gym and Islamic Center first?

A. Due to funds availability and city code requirements regarding vital infrastructure like the School Shelter and mechanical systems. If full funds are available, we can begin constructing the entire Hedaya School & Islamic Center, all at once.

Q. When will school open?

A. Once this phase is complete, we can start a pre / elementary startup school.

Q. When will we have more classrooms?

A. The rest of the school classrooms & buildings will be added as funds become available, while the community is using the already finished facility.

Q. What is the status now?

A. After the completion of the School Shelter & Gym, work will begin on the foundation and related items for the rest of the building shell.

A. After all bills are paid, we will have $100,000+ in trust and receivable funds.

A. ~ $10,597,000 Estimated cost.
