🏗️ Construction Update – Progress & Next Steps

✅ Completed Milestones

  • Construction Kickoff: Earthwork permit approved by the City of Overland Park.
  • Groundbreaking Ceremony: Officially marked the beginning of the project.
  • Site Preparation: Earthwork and groundwork began.
  • Finalized 3D Building Plan: Published for the community.
  • City Compliance: The City of Overland Park initially required an unexpected storm shelter (typically waived for nonprofits).
  • Engineering Adjustments: Structural engineers expedited design modifications to accommodate the shelter requirements.
  • Final Approval: After meeting all city-mandated adjustments, the final construction permit was granted.
  • General Contractor Secured: A contract was signed with Olympus Construction to lead the build.
  • School Shelter & Gym Foundation: Key construction phases completed, including:
    • Drilling piers
    • Land grading and preparation
    • Underground utility installation
    • Laying the foundation at and below ground level

🏗️ First Building: School Shelter & Gym (Completed)

  • Building Fully Assembled: Structural assembly is complete.
  • Roof Installation: The roof has been successfully installed.
  • Exterior Enclosure Done: The building is now fully enclosed and structurally complete.

✅ This phase is officially completed!

🏗️ Second Building: Islamic Center & Startup School

  • Plan Adjustments: Ongoing coordination with vendors and contractors.
  • Material Procurement: Orders placed and contracts signed.
  • Utility Installation: Subterranean utilities installed.
  • Foundation Work: Completed – concrete foundation and steel reinforcements are in place.
  • Flooring: Completed – concrete slab poured for the entire facility.

🚧 What’s Next? (Starting March 2025)

  • Steel Framework: Erecting the building’s steel structure and studs.
  • Roof Installation: Completing the exterior shell for full enclosure.
